Our Mission
Our mission is to assist survivors of domestic violence with their new lives through hands-on nurturing and compassion. Ninety-nine percent of women who seek refuge in shelters are mothers; and we offer a vision of peace, partnership and abundance which they can share with their children.
Beauty Cares is a national nonprofit organization designed to provide comfort, joy and renewed self-esteem for women who currently reside in safe houses protecting women and children from domestic violence. Beauty Cares offers an opportunity for healing and a pivotal boost of self-confidence with a “Day of Beauty,” an event which promises to ignite the natural beauty within every woman.
Within a safe, calm environment, our guests receive gentle chair massage and reflexology, allowing true healing and beauty to radiate from within. Professional makeup artists and top hairstylists then create a polished, work-appropriate look to highlight their natural beauty and enhance self-esteem. In this fun, interactive session, the artists and stylists provide tips for recreating that same look to keep feeling great, day after day. Beauty Cares further provides a gift tote containing the products required to maintain their beautiful new look.
Illumination coaches engage our guests in a dynamic session in which they are guided to identify and put into words the unique magic within them, providing a valuable tool for reentering the workforce.
At the close of the day, each woman, feeling thoroughly gorgeous and confident, also receives a professional portrait, which is printed on the spot as a lasting reminder that she is both lovely and loved.
